The service

## Scaffolding for homes across Kent
Most domestic scaffolding jobs come from a builder or homeowner needing safe access to a roof, chimney, wall or upper storey for a set period of work. Whether it's a two-storey semi in Tonbridge or a detached property out towards Sevenoaks, the scaffold has to fit the building, the boundary and the job in hand, not just be bolted up to a standard pattern.

We're a family business: Mason runs the crews on site, Katie handles the office and keeps you updated on timings and paperwork. That means when you call, you speak to someone who actually knows your job, not a call centre reading off a screen.

Domestic scaffolds are usually smaller than commercial rigs but the standards are identical: CISRS-carded labour, RAMS provided before we start, and a scaff tag fixed to the structure so anyone on site can see it's been inspected. We carry out weekly inspections for the length of the hire.

Because we work in residential streets with neighbours, parked cars and narrow driveways, we plan access and delivery times carefully. Materials are stacked tidily, walkways are kept clear, and the scaffold is dismantled and removed as soon as it's no longer needed rather than left standing.

We cover Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Hadlow, Kings Kill, Paddock Wood, Maidstone, Sevenoaks and the wider Kent, Sussex and London area, so most domestic jobs are within easy reach for a quick survey visit.

### Who it's for
Homeowners and builders working on houses, bungalows and flats needing safe, temporary access to upper levels.

### When you need it
Loft conversions, extensions, re-roofing, chimney work, rendering, painting or repointing above ground floor height.

### Why a professional scaffold
A properly designed and inspected scaffold protects your trades, your property and your neighbours from falls and falling material.

What it costs to wait

## What goes wrong with domestic scaffolding
Domestic jobs are often squeezed into tight sites, shared driveways or narrow terraced streets, and that's exactly where corners get cut. Here's where the risk usually sits.

### Unstable ground bearing
Standards placed on soft lawn, loose paving or over drains without base plates and sole boards can settle unevenly and destabilise the whole structure.

### Boundary and access disputes
Scaffolds that overhang a neighbour's garden or block a shared path without agreement cause friction that can delay or halt the job.

### Overloaded platforms
Stacking tiles, boards or bagged materials on a scaffold not designed for that load is one of the most common causes of collapse on smaller sites.

### Mistakes we get called out to fix
Hiring a scaffold with no scaff tag or written inspection record
- Assuming ladders alone are safe for chimney or roof work
- Leaving a scaffold up for months after the job has finished
- Not checking the contractor holds public liability insurance
- Building tight against a boundary without speaking to the neighbour first
- Skipping a written quote and agreeing a price over the phone only

What you get

## Specific Outcomes,Not Vague Promises

### Fast turnaround from quote to build
A written quote within a day means you're not left waiting to book in the rest of your building schedule.

### Safe access for every trade on site

Our price promise means we'll match or beat any genuine written scaffolding quote you've already had.

### Clean, tidy work in residential streets
Locally known as the posh scaffolders; we keep materials stacked neatly and respect your property and neighbours.

In detail

## How we build and manage domestic scaffolds
A domestic scaffold looks simple from the pavement, but the materials, method and design behind it all affect how safely and smoothly your job runs.

### Materials
We use standard steel tube and fitting scaffold systems with base plates and sole boards spread over soft or uneven ground to stop settlement. Board decking is laid flat and secured with toe boards and guard rails at every working lift.

Ties are fixed back into the building structure at set intervals rather than relying on the scaffold standing free, which matters on taller two- and three-storey homes. Where a non-standard scaffold is needed, we can provide design drawings and calculations at extra charge.

### Methods
Every domestic scaffold starts with a ground check and a plan for how it will be tied, loaded and accessed before a single pole goes up. We sequence the build to minimise disruption, often starting early to clear pavements and driveways before the street gets busy.

Access is usually via a ladder bay with a lockable gate at ground level to stop unauthorised use, which matters on a residential street with passing pedestrians and children.

### Service variations
Domestic scaffolding covers everything from a single lift for guttering work to a full birdcage for a loft conversion spanning the whole roof. Some jobs need a scaffold on one elevation only, others need to wrap around two or three sides of the house.

We also handle staged scaffolds, where the rig is adjusted partway through a job as work moves from the ground floor extension up to the roofline, avoiding the cost of two separate hires.

### Situations it applies to
Loft conversions, rear and side extensions, full re-roofs, chimney rebuilds, external wall insulation, rendering and repointing are the most common domestic jobs we scaffold across Tonbridge and the wider Kent area.

We also scaffold for one-off maintenance jobs like gutter clearing or fascia replacement where a tower or standard lift is the more cost-effective option rather than a full independent scaffold.

### Residential vs commercial differences
Domestic scaffolds are typically smaller, built faster, and have to work around parked cars, shared driveways and neighbouring gardens in a way commercial sites rarely do. Access is often narrower, so material handling is planned carefully in advance.

The inspection, insurance and RAMS standards don't change between domestic and commercial work, a house scaffold gets the same CISRS-carded team, weekly inspection and scaff tag as a commercial contract.
