The service

## Scaffolding built around your roof
Roofing work only goes smoothly if the scaffold underneath it is right; the correct height, properly tied, with guard rails and toe boards in place so your roofer can move materials and work safely along the full ridge line.

We scaffold everything from a small hip-roof re-tile to a full re-roof on a larger property, working closely with the roofing contractor to get platform heights and access points exactly where they're needed.

Mason and the team are CISRS-carded and trained in Working at Heights and Scaffold Inspection through CITB, which matters most on roofing jobs where the whole point of the scaffold is fall prevention.

Where a roof needs to be opened up and left exposed, we can also provide temporary roof systems to keep the building weathertight while work is ongoing, rather than relying on tarpaulin alone.

We cover roofing scaffolds across Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Hadlow, Kings Hill, Paddock Wood, Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Ashford, Canterbury, Dartford, Gravesend and London.

### Who it's for
Roofing contractors and homeowners needing safe access for re-roofs, repairs, guttering or storm damage work.

### When you need it
Full re-roofs, partial repairs, chimney flashing work, gutter replacement, or emergency cover after storm damage.

### Why a professional scaffold
Roof work at height is one of the highest-risk jobs on a building, a properly tied scaffold with edge protection is what keeps roofers and passers-by safe.

What it costs to wait

## What goes wrong with roofing scaffolds
Roofing jobs carry more fall risk than almost any other trade, and that's exactly where a poorly built scaffold causes the most harm.

### Missing edge protection
Guard rails and toe boards left off or fitted too low don't stop a roofer or loose tile from going over the edge of the platform.

### Platform height mismatched to the roof
A scaffold built too low or too high forces roofers to overreach or work off the edge, increasing fall risk unnecessarily.

### No weather protection during open roof work
Leaving a stripped roof under loose tarpaulin instead of a proper temporary roof system risks water damage to the whole property below.

### Mistakes we get called out to fix
Working off ladders instead of a full scaffold for anything beyond guttering
- Not fitting toe boards, allowing tools or debris to fall
- Leaving a scaffold untied on a taller roofline
- Skipping weekly inspections during a longer re-roof
- Not arranging emergency scaffolding quickly enough after storm damage
- Failing to check the roofing scaffold contractor is CISRS-carded

In detail

## How we build scaffolding for roofing work
Roofing scaffolds have to match the shape and pitch of the roof exactly, not just reach the eaves; the details below are what make the difference.

### Materials
We use standard tube and fitting systems with double guard rails and toe boards at every lift, since roofing platforms carry the highest fall risk of any residential or commercial scaffold. Boards are laid tight with no gaps at eaves level.

For open roof work, temporary roof systems using sheeted frames can be installed over the exposed structure, keeping the building weathertight without relying on tarpaulin that can lift or tear in wind.

### Methods
Platform height is set to sit just below eaves level so roofers can work along the ridge without overreaching, and ties are fixed into the wall structure at intervals suited to the roof's height and pitch.

On steeper or more complex roofs, we agree access points with the roofing contractor in advance so scaffold boards line up with hip ends, valleys and chimney positions rather than forcing awkward working angles.

### Service variations
We provide standard roofing scaffolds for full re-roofs, smaller towers or partial lifts for guttering and flashing repairs, and full temporary roof systems for jobs where the roof structure itself is exposed for an extended period.

Emergency roofing scaffolds are also common after storm damage, where speed of build matters as much as the standard of the finished structure to stop further water ingress.

### Situations it applies to
Full re-roofs, partial re-tiling, chimney flashing repairs, valley and gutter replacement, and storm damage repairs are the most common roofing scaffold jobs we take on across Kent.

We also scaffold for solar panel installation and loft conversion roof alterations, where access needs to run the full length of the roof rather than just to one section.

### Residential vs commercial differences
Domestic re-roofs typically need a scaffold on one or two elevations, while commercial roofing; on warehouses, schools or larger buildings; often needs a full perimeter scaffold or edge protection system across a much larger roof area.

The fall protection standard doesn't change between the two: every roofing scaffold we build gets the same guard rails, toe boards, ties and weekly inspection regime, whether it's a bungalow or a commercial unit.
